Key to have loyal girlfriend :)

Writing anything smug and preachy makes me worried, whether an average Indian will read it or not but few chunk of people who can really read and understand the things also inspire me to put down my ideas on paper and on screen. While reading article of Madhu Theran (founding editor of India Today) during this week, forced me to share her thoughts and my interpretation on honesty, values and ethics in Indian bureaucratic and democratic systems.

We all know the reality that in today’s world success i.e. ultimate goal is given much importance then the means used to achieve that goal. We don’t really care for things except our own gains. During my graduation, i was getting confused between all rights and wrongs but now am getting confused between rights and rights.

Is it possible to be an honest and turn a huge profit in India? Is it possible to run a business and not resort to bribing officials and bureaucrats? Is it possible to be an honest accountant and protect your job when your boss tells you to fudge the books?During our daily life we come across so many incidents where we need to act morally, ethically and honestly which is again very personal affair.

Madhu raises very good questions on this and ask that how does its going to affect attempt of India’s being global player? In simple words if you cannot trust a partner not to skim the cream himself in a business, why should you invest? If you cannot trust a manufacturer to supply the same goods that he showed you as samples, why do you buy from him? If you can’t take a word of your supplier to meet deadline, why should you take the risk?

Today it is observed that hypocrisy and sophistry as basic ingredients for success. Every time there is an expose, a band-aid is placed to fix it, but the core root of corruption, which is the national psychological mindset, is not addressed. Madhu shares experience of Chinese politician who asked her that what Indian government is doing to build national character. This question made her dumbstruck because we do NOTHING.

To do something we have to raise this as hottest issue and change our means of communications. We have to infect our generation with the bug and must use media which is popular, liked and are galvanised among us and among our nest gen that means we have to bring down the subjects which can change national psychological mindset on , internet, music concerts, wild debates in campus, TV , mainstream cinema, whatever and wherever we can bring change.

We have to make our friends understand that dishonesty is not a ‘cool’ thing. Success is not a success until it is not achieved by honest means, it can be success for others who observes that success but it a defiantly a failure as a good human being or good self. Writing or speaking good words on honesty or ethics will not help us now, it’s time to think and act!!! Always remember one thing which I learnt from my teachers and parents, Honest, truthful and ethical person is most ‘coolest dude’ and trust me it’ll help you fetch more money, more fame, more friends, more acceptance, more respect and of course loyal girl friend or boyfriend :-) ;-) :-D B-)

Pratham i am reading all your articles, feels so good when someone local writing this stuff. I completely agree with you on this point, but i am in poland and i have notice that respect for indians here is quite different. They respect as a good country. But as an Indian i know how much problems we are facing in our country. The basic thing is awareness which people in our country is no aware about. People needs to get aware, read articles read new paper editorial section. But as 1.4 billion (official) population takes time a lot of time. And apart from it the language, the culture, the traditions etc also affects a lot on this things. But as a young Indian i try my best to give my knowledge and awareness to other fellow Indians whenever i get chance. This is a big topic to discuss, but i hope with time India will emerge as ethical country, but for that our young generation has to learn and implement a lot.

Anyways it was nice reading your article, keep writing because it helps. It helps you and people like me to get motivated and most important thing it brings awareness.
Take care.

@sunny : working for interest is good thing but achieving these interests by evil means is not socially desirable , for instance making money by corruption can fetch good cars , house etc but do you think that corrupt person can get respect and acceptance in society ?? Ethics and morals are such a things which are given desirable status in any era , it is always truth always wins , and truth comes from values :) keep thinking and keep commenting :)
