Why should I call my teachers, SIR/MADAM?

This week one of my educators didn’t signed one very important document because I was singing song in canteen during his presence. According to him, I should adhere the norms of university system.

The word ‘system’ strike on my mind, is university a system? Do systems has norms (norms and rules are different words and with different meaning, as this learned man himself taught us – ‘there is no synonym in language’)? If it is system what are the loop hole it has (as no system is perfect)? If there is loop holes then who is responsible to correct it? And how he/she will correct it?

Some people view this world as big system, no point of denial to that, because up till now, I was among them. I think as a human we are experts in framing hierarchical systems everywhere, in society we have caste, class and gender, in every religion god is omnipotent, in economics means of productions comes on top, you name the domain and we have hierarchical systems there. These systems are not allowing us to think freely, creatively and independently.

If we look at our history, everything is created, invented and discovered to satisfy human needs. These needs are basically to prove dominance over something or someone. We want to be independent but on other side we want others to depend on us, so that our dominance is proved and our appetite of being on TOP is satisfied. This mindset is responsible for creating hierarchical systems everywhere.

The real problem starts when one person from horde (or so called system) stands against the system. No system will happily accept such person who is violating norms and rules of particular system; it’ll be considered as misdemeanours because majority (which makes system) is not ready accept him. He may have to suffer negative confrontation from those people who made that system.

Why inter caste marriages are facing resistance? Why we are supposed to keep our footwear out of holy places? Why we have to stand up and greet our educators? Why white foreigners in our country are treated as god? And the list of questions is unending. Hierarchy is assumed as essential and basic sub system of any system including social systems, we are so afraid that we don’t tend to think beyond that particular system, do you think that it is hindering our innovations and creative ability? Are we becoming slaves of rigid mindsets?

The only solution I can foresee is that, norms should be challenged fearlessly, now I am regretting on act of giving my apologise letter to that educator who refused to sign my important document just because I was unconsciously and unintentionally singing song in canteen in his presence, instead of saying sorry to him, I should have challenged his statement for not singing songs in canteen. But for such dareful act one should wise, brave and polite enough to face any argument and consequences. Once have proved mellowness to stand against such ‘systems’, bringing social change will be a child’s place

The man who had not sign your important document just because you are singing a song in the canteen in the presence of him he is a dumb man and he don't know that what is the real meaning of the canteen, canteen is not only a place where people just go and take lunch, dinner and breakfast but also it is a place where people can gather and discuss on any topic.you have use the word "system" if we want to change the system we have to be system or enter into the system otherwise you should enjoy it,just like this("IF YOU CAN'T AVOID THE RAP THEN ENJOY IT").

@mayur : first of all that man is not dumb , he is learned and wise fellow only thing is that he could not avoid his preconceived notions. You are right on point that we have to be system to replace old systems but being a part of system will only victimize us, even if we enjoy things it would be not 'real enjoyment' :)
