Almost every site we visit today has lots of ads; nothing seems to be wrong in that!!! Most noteworthy are the ads from matrimonial sites. Not only ads, I am sure all most every internet user (especially in India) would have been received invitation or advertising from any matrimonial sites.  19 years old girls or boys are getting phone calls offering discounted packages for searching their life mates, weird?? It’s true!!!  These sites are so desperately marketing their products and services as if they are most worried about our marriages in this world. Why?? Let’s have a look -

It is a reflection of mindset new Indian urban youth having greater access to Internet which now a day seems to be flooded with matrimonial sites which offers new horizons of romance and ease in searching life partner as if its violating traditional constraints.
Basic reasons for such huge fame of such matrimonial sites are its convenience, ease and anonymous ways of search. It is believed to be powerful tool for discovering compatibility because it has more success stories.  Such a huge availability on Indian matrimonial sites can instrument a bigger social change in India.

During 2006 India had more than 38.5 million internet users and about 60% of them are below the age of 25 years, among total internet users 48% were registered with matrimonial sites , 51% claimed that they joined sites for dating, friendship or just for fun while 37% of internet users have registered for both activities.  Matrimonial sites have shown growth of 130% while dating site grown by 88%.

Shaadi.com makes 50 successful matchmaking every day, bharatmatrimony.com has highest number of educated profiles while jeevansathi.com gets more than 119 million page views every day. In 2008 this sector of information society showed successful revenue generation of about Rs. 140 Crore from Rs.58 Crore in 2006. 48% of total Indian Internet population now moved on matrimonial sites.   •  50% growth rate in marriage site sector.
