Jab Dhunki Dhunki lage….

Learning from movies, one of the most desirable ways to learn as well as to teach. This week I got exposure to three good films Yeh Mera India (Hindi), Harishchandrachi Factory (Marathi) and Cidade de Deus (Brazilian). The common thing among these varied movies I found very basic human propensity, something may be termed as passion, madness, eagerness, whatever you can think for the strong feeling to do something, no matter what is the amount of resistance you face.

Having faith in goodness and truth seems to most difficult thing in times of pressures.. Sometimes, we are so afraid that we start avoiding good things which we inherit as a human. Contradictions faced by a district judge (Anupam Kher) in Yeh Mera India while declaring punitive action against a true man under a pressure of his duty as a judge and Indian law system clearly shows how we are becoming slaves of various systems established in name of professionalism , rules and norms. Coming out of court, judge requests complainer to take away his complaint because it is necessary to maintain faith of victim in humanity and goodness rather to maintain faith in judiciary system. This scene is really heart touching as slave of system (judge) use his heart (and not his head) to make decision on humanitarian ground beyond the purview of judiciary system. all the characters of Yeh Mera India tries to go beyond systems and proves that they are humans after all.

Many people drop a million dollar idea just because they are afraid of resistance, they assume to face while doing new things. This fear restricts people to visualize change that they can bring in this world. Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, one crazy fellow leaves his print press profession, sells away every utensils of home, mortgages his family insurance policy, leaves his pregnant goes to London, despites of strong resistance from society learns art of producing a movies. Later on he establishes industry which is today known as Bollywood feeding and entertaining millions of people. Madness to do something is quality which human beings do not inherit; he/she develops it within.

God, society, money etc becomes nonsensical things once person realize his potentials and then he overcomes everything whatever comes in his way.  Such people do not target change but their passion of something creates new avenue to the world. A city of full of gangsters and thieves can also allows a person (Alexandre Rodrigues as Buscapé) to visualize better clean and safe world  and becomes photojournalist shows that environment, culture and customs can also get neglected once one person develops passion for something.

Bring in change is an easy job, only thing is that we are afraid of doing that job….
