SAVE democracy, it’s more important than tigers!!!

Now a days I am listening lots of noise of about corruption, democracy, parliament and media which makes me to think that where is India going? we have parliamentarian democracy in which group of representatives decides where and how country will be lead, but if we look at reality – there were 138 hours for 23 sittings of parliament was decided for winter session and our so called MPs are had utilized on 7 hours for productive work, this 7 hour is less then what common man works in this country in a day. In democracy everyone has right to speak and protest that doesn’t mean that such protests and freedom of speech endanger the democracy itself.

Another reality I want to share is about state and concealment. In democracy everyone has liberty to speak, everyone has right to attain justice, everyone has right to review what the state is doing. What wikileaks has done had raised a big question mark over democratic values of not only the big powers but also country like India. For the sake of development every state has to keep confidentiality at some level and the day when state keeps secrecy it avoids transparency and when transparency is avoided can we call that country as democratic country?

A journalist who has her own company which is able to employee top telecom officials, tapes the phone calls big industrialists and ministers in the name of investigation and those big guns shouting on issues of privacy, makes me to think who is right and what is true? An Individual is recording private phone calls of top guns for about 2 years; do you think that an individual has guts to do this just for job of few rupees? She has been supported with “big boys” (thats what Deepak Parekh said to people behind Nira in Sunday express of this week). This case strengthens my belief that capitalists is directing and diverting democracy through media. Implications of such diversions can be very dangerous for parliamentarian democracy. Media says what is wrong in bringing truth to public in democracy and capitalists says that bringing privacy in public in is not democratic, who is correct? CBI, clown of government goes behind when there is scams like CWG or Adarsh but to harass an individual it’s always ready.

All these doesn’t prove that media is very pious and scared community. All the scams which we read or view is not brought up by media; media have become just a medium in scams which do not have monetary benefits. Corruption in Allahabad court was brought out by Supreme Court itself, Adarsh scam was sniffed by senior naval officer and what about Reddy brothers? The land scam in Karnataka? Has the media been leading the investigations or living off scraps of information from political parties? Don’t you think that media is adding fuel to fire which can burn democracy.

I feel that the democracy not only in India but in world needs a radical reforms , new form of journalism emerging new form politics is required to counter all the democratic evils which above corruption and influence. Democracy needs to be redefine and its values needs to re-established in every area of politics , economics and media.
