Socially networked
It was wonderful experience for me to watch “the social network”. I become conscious about new social trend of getting “networked socially”. Every human being likes to interact with another human not necessary in which format he is interacting. In Indian context people used to have community interaction during “mela” (fairs) or weekly markets or near community well or ponds etc. It was kind social networking where people get opportunities to express their views or to do business. With the advent of technology this custom had taken new form in India. In other parts of world , real lack of community is observed, may be because of liberal family values which gave boost to such social technology.
I found three serious concern about this technology, it is more idiosyncratic – people thinks that they can become hero (or heroin) if they access social network sites and have more number of friends in list. It is observed that person who is less confident to speak in public posts good comments or post. It is argued that such people got platform to speak up, then which person is more comparatively more confident- who really express his/her though in real or who express his/her thoughts in virtual world? . As per my view social networking sites is responsible for declining confidence level of students.
Another concern is respect and dignity of human especially females. Everyone likes to be in company of opposite gender :) social networks used this notion as tool. Women are thinking that they become free and secure once they or on this sites then why issues of dummy profiles and hacked profiles is observed. I remembered a dialogue from “the social network” : guys are less interested in hot photos of celebrities or porn stars but they more interested in viewing and commenting on photos of their female colleagues. What does this statement trying to say? For me - women are becoming way of entertainment on these social sites though women have different assumptions about this.
It was very socking for me when I realized that girl with whom I was flirting on Facebook was 9th standard girl. I don’t know why parents are allowing their children to use internet at so early stage of life. Porn sites , adult contents and other non sense things are so easily available these kids that they develop maturity before its meant to be . This is a serious issue of society who believe that usages of internet can give better things to their child. Internet is meant for betterment human beings but are we really moving towards betterment??
